Exquisite Texture: Body and Beyond. In this class you will review and observe examples of the age old, beautiful art of Arashi Shibori, and consider it as a point of departure to exciting explorations. The approach will be easy and "non-precise" in technique, rendering exquisite texture for many applications. Combining dyed, textured, painted silk cloth with hand made papers, metals, beads for garments, wearable accessories, jewellery, mixed media on artist canvas, interior design accents—all will be explored, and more. You will complete at least two projects from instructor's examples, or of your own design ideas—art cards, wind charms, scarves, art belts, collars, wall pieces, pillows, art bags, jewellery…. Magic will happen!

If you love colour (and who doesn't), but don't really know too much about colour theory (and who does), then come, let's dance! In this class, we'll dance our way around the colour wheel as we learn about primaries, secondaries, tertiaries and the endless palette of beautiful transparent colours attainable to textile dyers.
Working with six basic primary hues—bright and deep—you will learn to mix any colour your heart desires. Silk fabrics, silk and wool yarns will render each student over 100 luminous hues—from around and across the colour wheel. The format for this class will provide a foundation for "comfort in colour", enabling and inspiring students to approach colour selection and mixing with bold, intuitive abandon.
