26. Beginners Traditional Rug Hooking

This class is for beginners. You will learn about the different selections of backing, wool preparation, transferring patterns, how to hook and finishing techniques, and an introduction to dye techniques. By the end of this workshop you will be able to complete a small sample rug project. All supplies to complete a project are in the materials kit (click image at right to view).

27. Folk Art Rug Hooking Workshop

In this workshop, you will have a choice of doing the individual rugs or a rug of maple leaves and padulas (imaginary flowers). You will learn how to hook leaves, achieve points and turn-overs, how the flow of colour works within your rug, the joy of hooking padulas, the use of plaids, tweeds and dip dyed wool in your rug and how to block and finish your rug.

Use colour freely in a simplified manner and create a small piece that will be colourful, fun, crazy and unique. Hook a caricature of someone you love, hook your pet, or do a funky self-portrait, all in bright colours. No seriousness in this class! Come with a sense of humour, a lot of colour and a willingness to let loose and have some fun.
