Design a top down lace shoulder capelet using techniques you learned in Lace Design One last year. This new program in Venessa's design series showcases fingering weight yarns. In this two-day workshop you will explore the glory of expression through lace knitting with finer yarns.

Day One will begin with the basics of lace construction; you will knit a sampler of five fresh new lace patterns, then select your favourite one or two to be knit into a beautiful shoulder capelet.

On Day Two you will learn lace survival techniques, including working with beads, cast on and cast off techniques, life lines, blocking and more. And you will start your capelet and be well on your way by the end of the day.

Learn intarsia — a knitting technique used to make designs with multiple colours, like Cowichan or Kafe Fassett designs. Separate balls of yarn are used to form designs in a fabric which ends up one layer thick. You will learn how to control the many strands of yarn and how to read a chart. By the end of the course, you will have made a colour block sample. Basic knitting and purling skills are required.
