Despite looking intricate and complicated, bobbin lace can be mastered by anyone who can count to four! Using lovely little wooden bobbins and pre-marked patterns supported on a special pillow, you can create lovely linen lace edgings, medallions and insertion laces. How wonderful to embellish your hand woven or knitted creations with your own handmade lace!
This workshop is a fun introduction to this ancient craft. You will learn the three basic stitches from which all laces are made, then by the first afternoon you will be creating your first lace edging. At the end of the second day, you will have woven several different edgings and be well on your way into this fascinating art form.

This is a 2 day, beginner level stumpwork course in which you will learn the elements of raised embroidery and will stitch a life-like Monarch butterfly and attach it to a silk background. You will work with directional satin stitch, bead, insert detached "slips" and other stumpwork and satin stitch projects and will also learn to pad and shade the background leaves and raise the beaded blackberries so realistically you can smell them!

Embellishing quilts and stitch work with beads is becoming very popular. On the first day you will learn basic and innovative ways of attaching beads and other found objects to quilts and needlework. On the second day you will make a beaded brooch using the stitches you have learned. You will learn eight beading stitches, three edge stitches and five fringe variations. This can be addictive!
